The BBC is regulated by Ofcom (the Office of Communications).

They insure that the UK rules are followed an that there is no inappropriate context broadcasted to the public.

Doctor Who and His Dark Materials fulfil the BBC mandate by blending high-quality entertainment with education. Doctor Who explores history and science, while His Dark Materials introduces complex philosophy, proving public broadcasting can be both popular and intellectually enriching.

The opening nine minutes unfold in the Hawkins National Laboratory — a cold, dim room with metal walls, humming fluorescent lights, and rows of science gear that instantly set tension and foreboding. The low-key lighting and the narrow hallways here produce an air of claustrophobia and secrecy and foretell the peril to follow.
