His Dark Materials breaks stereotypes by casting diverse actors as powerful leaders, like the witch queen Ruta Skadi. However, the story still focuses mostly on European culture, and the Egyptian's sometimes repeat old stereotypes about nomadic people.

The episode shows a fantasy version of the past where real-life mixes with talking animal souls, steampunk airships, and magical objects like the truth-telling compass.

Personal Identity: Young Teenagers would relate to Lyra and Will on learning to survive on their own without adults and viewers respect Will's protective, caring nature toward his family, using him as a positive role model for strength and empathy.

Personal Relationships: The main part is character bonding as the viewers feel an emotional connection watching Lyra and Will finally meet and trust each other.

Diversion (Escapism): Audiences escape reality by exploring out of your daily life to life tasks and teleports into the deserted, sun-drenched Italian-style architecture.

Vicarious: The scene where the witch is being tortured creates a thrilling sensation.
